The Final Render

This is a render I made mainly to test out fluid simulation in blender using the Fluidlab addon. The scene consists of a cup, that I made by modeling a cube to look like a cup and then applying a subdivision surface modifier to it, a slightly sculpted plane with a sand texture on it, an HDRI and finally some sand made using a fluid simulation.

Although the fluid simulation sand and ground texture don't completely blend together I think it was realistic enough for this showcase. This could probably be fixed by using a particle system to spread random sand particles around on the ground plane, but I was too lazy to bother.
